Following on from my recent style crush Adrien Sauvage and his AW12 collection, which he described as ‘men’s wear for women’; I have seem to have found myself adopting quite an androgynous taste in clothes.

-

People still misconstrue what the term androgyny means, and just for the record it’s about not fitting into a masculine or feminine gender role or being ‘mentally’ in between genders’, which can often be reflected through ones fashion sense.

I’ve had two people in the space of a week say I remind them of Grace Jones, and although I paused for a few seconds, on the whole was actually quite flattered, simply because Grace Jones has a Goddess like temperament with an outwardly masculine stern austere expression that is coupled with her iconic flat-top/high-top hair style. She is not afraid to take on a masculine persona, and I think this comes from an awareness of the fact that she is aware of her beauty and confident in her sexuality; and in my opinion, its women with that disposition that Adrien Sauvage had in mind when he created his AW12 collection.

In this androgynous space that I am in, I fell in love with I suppose what you call a cape? At my favourite and highly frequented vintage store ‘Fox n Bear’ in Willesden Green, NW London.  It’s a vintage Windsmoor piece and has been a great addition my not too feminine mood of late, so if you have any suggestions for other “androgynous” fashion designers I should be looking for, tweet, comment or email me.

Lastly, on the topic of Windsmoor, if you scroll down, you will find that I recently bought a custard yellow Windsmoor blazer a few weeks ago, that has been adorning my outfits of late, and which I am likely going to wear (again) tomorrow!

Ciao.
